Screw you guys, I’m going home

That’s right — I’m feeling pretty petulant right now: It’s less fun talking about the Sox all the time when the Sox are sucking. (I will note that in Ortiz’s last two at bats, when the Sox were losing, he went 1-for-1 with a homer and a walk.) So it’s down to Florida for me, because what could better than readings in Palm Beach County and Miami in the middle of August?

I’d rather be sweatin’ to the oldies in Florida than spend another minute watching our bullpen in action. A lot of media folks are talking about the tired arms of our youthful hurlers, namely Delcarmen and Hansen. But what about Lester? Last year he was going 6 deep every 5 days for the Portland Sea Dogs, and now he’s in the rotation for a pennant contender … and it’s August. He looked tired last night, he wasn’t challenging batters, and was trying to be a little too Tom Glavine-esqe by biting at the corners. Got to throw that curveball for strikes, otherwise it’s easy to lay off it. Didn’t exceed 90 mph on the gun too much either (not that you can trust those things anyway). I’m more than a little worried about the pen. But it’s the starting rotation that’s keeping me up at night.

Sound and fury, Seth, sound and fury.

Houston is now 7 games out. Sayonora, Rocketman.

I saw it firsthand, looked to be getting the squeeze a bit. Of course, in the ninth, the future hall of famer, Abiorix Burgos, got the benefit of the doubt on the called 3rd to Manny. Looked like Hudson got squeezed a bit to me too. Going again tonight, hoping for better results. On the bright side, it’s only going to be 103 at the first pitch.

Not sure if this really coincides, but since Lopez has been catching, pitchcounts are much higher much earlier.
